Step 1: Management is Everything

Prevent accidents when you can't supervise. Dogs naturally avoid soiling their sleeping area, so we can use this to our advantage with management options:

Option 1: Crate training - A properly sized crate (big enough to stand and turn around, not much bigger) gives your dog a safe space and prevents accidents when you can't supervise. For puppies, place the crate in your bedroom so they feel secure and you can hear if they need to go out during the night.
